Becoming Debt Free

Retirement Or No For Those Over 65

Today there is an article in the Wall Street Journal that explains how the economic condition of today is actually affecting those who are close to or at retirement age. This is only one city’s story but I am sure the same scenario exist in towns and cities all around the nation.

The Obama administration is working hard to get the country back on it’s feet, but as with all things it will take time and patience of the American People. But some are not in a position or have enough time left to wait for the changes to trickle down to those who need it the most.

It used to be a time when at the age of 65 people were able to retire and draw a pension. But that changed long ago. Probably more than people realized at the time. Now people who are 65, retirement age, are still seeking employment in order to live out the rest of their years is some type of comfort.

The article explains how participation in the work force for age 65 and older has been creeping up as well as the unemployment rate for this same group. Many are unsure about their future. According to the article more retirement age people are looking at working into their 70’s, if, they are lucky. And then there are those who feel they won’t ever be able to retire.

This, my fellow readers, is the time to look into becoming technology savvy and enter into the world of internet business. If the future is uncertain any way, what is there to lose, especially with so much help to get started. The information is out there just waiting to be harnessed. The “savvy” part is knowing which information is real and can be trusted. But this is for another day.

According to the article written by Kelly Evanson May 9, 2009, there was a study done by a human-resources consulting firm, Hewitt Associates, found that the typical 55-year old worker will need to work for two more years to replace 401(k) losses in 2008.”

From this article you can see people are falling off the fence into despair and anguish as if life has nothing more to offer them. How did our nation get so bad to be one of the wealthiest nations in the world? Go figure.
